3DDRR update, can’t trust that day

Monday, Monday. The 3DDRR and the 3DDRRxNY both fall to 1.27

That would be really good news. But I remember what happened that last time we had a Tuesday. So I’ll re-assess tomorrow.

  1. Even today could be considered a holiday given that people often take the Monday after Easter off. In Europe, the day is a holiday in a lot of countries. You won’t get data that isn’t polluted by this until about Thursday.

  2. So, about one-third of apartment renters are not paying the rent alteady, and 50 million Americans, or about one-third of the labor force, will be unemployed by the end of June, if lockdowns persist, or so predicts the St Louis branch of the Federal Reserve.

But it has been worth it because, according to our top credentialed epidemiologists, we might have saved an unknown number of lives, although that unknown number seems to be rapidly diminishing.

I like the ASK blog. But I think ASK needs to give up on this 3DDRR stuff. You are encouraging the lunatics.

  3. A commenter on MY, “James”, suggests that even the death statistics are a casualty of the crisis. “Reporting COVID-19 cases, recoveries and deaths also requires labor. The infrastructure necessary to support rapid data collection and reporting at scale is simply not available. As a consequence, the individual nodes in our disease detection infrastructure are being overwhelmed, and simply reporting the maximum number of cases they are capable of reporting.” If true, this would undermine a lot in Arnold’s model which relies heavily on reported fatalities from the virus.
