Yes, sterilization with QE1 was a mistake but they did abandon it later. The bailouts were not the best but it does have to draw the line somewhere, this far and no farther, or the collapse becomes self sustaining and the loss of wealth compounding, so the debate is not bailouts or not but when, how, and how much.
